GuarantorWhen you rent an apartment in Japan, you will almost certainly be required to have a guarantor (hoshōnin) co-sign the contract. Your guarantor will have to pay the landlord if you leave without paying the rent. Generally speaking, RIKEN can act as a guarantor for RIKEN employees. However, some landlords have very strict requirements and may reject RIKEN as a guarantor in favor of a personal guarantor. Contract duration and renewal
Contracts are usually signed for two years, and if you want to renew you will probably be required to pay a renewal fee equivalent to one month's rent. Early terminationYou should give one or two months notice in writing if you wish to terminate a rental contract for any reason. Landlords may charge penalty fees if you fail to give sufficient notice. |
